About the Singleton Art Prize

Art Exhibition Singleton Art Prize

From humble beginnings 41 years ago, “The Singleton Art Prize” has matured into one of the largest regional art prizes in NSW and one of the most prestigious. The event is organised and operated by the Rotary Club of Singleton on Hunter.

It continues to feature prominent and up-and-coming Australian artists. In a typical year an average of 800 visitors pass through the Singleton Civic Centre over five days to enjoy up to 650 paintings, resulting in substantial art sales and great exposure for our sponsors.
The success and continuing growth of this event provides valuable opportunities for both Rotary and our partners to positively contribute to the wider community.

The opportunity for the enjoyment of Art, and the encouragement of up and coming artists greatly enrich the whole community. Financially the benefits are also significant, over the past ten years almost $130,000 has been raised from sponsorship & painting sales.

The costs of running the exhibition are covered from financial sponsorship and other sources including in-kind partnerships, sales commissions and over 1000 man & woman hours each year by Rotarians and community volunteers.
The Rotary Club of Singleton on Hunter aims to provide a service to the Singleton community, facilitate a growing appreciation of art, encourage developing artists including our youth, and raise funds for deserving organisations and projects.

The best work of the Prize is acquired for the Singleton Collection, and this year will join more than 97 works displayed in the Singleton Library, Singleton Arts & Cultural Centre and Council offices.

“For 39 years, it has been an important event on Singleton’s cultural calendar, showcasing our region as a centre for the visual arts and building on the cultural diversity that is intrinsic to our community and our lifestyle.”

— Cr Sue Moore, Mayor of Singleton
